At UC Davis, we pride ourselves on our tradition of hands-on, real-world experiences for students in every academic discipline. The following programs are just a few of the ways our undergraduates involve themselves in enriching projects, putting classroom knowledge into practice and serving the community at the same time. |

ArtsBridgeFounded in 1999, UC Davis ArtsBridge gives students of the fine and performing arts a chance to bring their passion for creativity to K-12 classrooms in Davis and surrounding cities. ArtsBridge scholars introduce young students to dance, music, theater and visual arts projects. ArtsBridge scholars cooperate with classroom teachers to develop lessons that involve students directly in the creation of art. Student Experimental FarmThe Student Experimental Farm is an innovative teaching and research facility located on 25 acres of university land just west of the Recreation Pool. Since its inception, the Student Experimental Farm has given students the unique opportunity to explore alternative agricultural technologies and philosophies through classes, special projects, internships, work study jobs and original research. Because the farm includes several acres of land that have been managed organically for two decades, it provides researchers with a facility for conducting field research into sustainable agriculture. UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML)The UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory at Bodega Bay is located on the Sonoma County coast, about 100 miles from Davis. The surrounding waters contain one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in California. BML offers a program of study in marine biology for upper division undergraduates during spring quarter and summer session. Participants work in close association with BML faculty and staff, developing technical skills while pursuing research areas of personal interest. BML's housing facility for students and visitors assures a place for all students admitted to the program. UC Davis Children's Garden ProjectThe UC Davis Children's Garden Project is a working farm and garden that gives visiting schoolchildren the chance to learn about ecological interactions and environmental science. UC Davis students in agricultural and environmental sciences work here to create a living demonstration of the important role that plants and animals play in our daily lives. After completing an on-campus Children’s Garden internship, many students are able to work directly with schoolchildren at their home schools, helping to develop and maintain school gardens and teach students more about environmental principles and concerns.
