Music and mathematics. Economics and environmental policy. Literature and landscape architecture. If you find you’re blessed with multiple academic interests and can’t bear to let one fall by the wayside, consider pursuing a double major.
About Double Majors
About 12 percent of all UC Davis undergraduate students graduate with double majors. The benefits of more than one major are many: you’ll be a valuable candidate for employment or graduate school admission in multiple fields; you will have a broader set of skills; you won’t look back on your college years and regret not pursuing your heart’s desire. Still, the heavy coursework and intense dedication required to succeed in two majors means that you’ll need to plan your course pattern carefully.
Double Majors Requirements
Each of our four colleges have specific requirements for double majors. Each college requires you to submit a petition for your double major to the dean’s office for approval. You may choose to pursue two majors within the same college or in different colleges (for example, art studio in the College of Letters and Science and landscape architecture in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences).
