Do you know how to prepare for college, what courses to take, what your chances of receiving financial aid are, or how to connect with the campus resources you need? The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) can help you answer these questions.
What is the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)?
Many students do not apply for admission to college because no one in their family has ever attended college or because college seems too expensive. EOP aims to improve the access, retention and graduation of students who have been historically disadvantaged, either socially or economically. EOP assists students by providing admissions and academic support services. EOP serves students from all ethnic backgrounds.
EOP Services
Before you enroll at UC Davis, Undergraduate Admissions can connect you with EOP services related to admissions, financial aid and campus housing processes. Through EOP, you may be eligible for to have fees waived for your admission application and orientation programs, as well as a deferment of your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) fee.
Once admitted, freshman EOP students are invited to participate in the Special Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP). The program begins in summer and continues through the first two academic years, offering preparatory course work, developing academic skills and providing advising. It helps students adjust academically and socially to the campus by strengthening their learning skills and study habits, and by providing an extensive orientation to campus life.
After you enroll at UC Davis, assistance with academic planning, skill development, career and personal counseling and course tutoring are available upon request from the EOP Information Center.
