Academic History

  • Read and follow the instructions for reporting your educational history.
  • Make sure to list the title of your 10th-year board examination certificate and the date received in the column "Diploma/Degree/Certificate and Date" next to the appropriate school.
  • Then do the same for your 12th year board examination certificate next to your high school of graduation.

Freshman Self-Reported Academic Record

  • Read and follow the instructions for reporting your academic records. Do not consider any board examination or regular school subjects "honors level" on the application. We are already very familiar with these curricula and will evaluate them accordingly.
  • In the 10th grade column list your 10th-year board examination subjects in the appropriate subject areas. Next to each subject, enter the title of your board certificate (example: "Math SSC"). Please write the word “none” in the “first semester grade” column and enter your attained and maximum marks in the "second semester grade" column (example: 75/100). If you are completing the online application and are not able to enter both attained and maximum marks in the manner just shown, you may list just your attained marks (example: 75). We will assume that your maximum marks are 100. If your maximum marks are not 100, please report this in your Personal Statement.
  • In the 12th grade column, indicate the courses in progress for your 12th year Certificate. Next to each subject, enter the title of your board certificate (example: "Math AISSC" or "Math HSSC").
  • If you have already completed your 12th-year board examinations, list your final marks in the 12th-grade column. Make sure to tell us what you have been doing since you graduated.
    • If you have begun to attend another educational institution or plan to do so at any point before the term you are applying for, you must list it in your educational history. Remember that once you enroll in a university or post-secondary college during the academic year after completing your 12th-year board examinations you are considered a transfer student. The eligibility requirements for transfer students are different.
    • If you have not begun to attend another educational institution and do not plan to do so before the term you are applying for, please clarify your activities in the Gap in Education section.

Students with Both Foreign and U.S. Education

If you only attended a portion of your secondary schooling in one of these countries, but then moved to the U.S., please report both your foreign and U.S. coursework. Be sure to list ALL of the secondary schools that you attended before and after moving to the U.S. It is very important that we have a clear understanding of your performance in both educational systems. You are also welcome to explain your situation in a portion of your Personal Statement. If your change in educational systems caused you to skip or repeat a year of education, please read the instructions in Special Situations. If you left your country before completing your 10th-year board examinations, please follow these instructions.

  • Report the schools you attended in the Academic History section. Indicate that you left your country before receiving your 10th-year certificate.
  • Report your school-issued subjects and marks in the proper columns. Do not make any notation next to the subjects. For example, simply enter "Math."
  • Continue with reporting the classes you are taking in the U.S.
