Admission Requirements

To ensure that our students are ready to succeed at college level work, we require specific academic preparation. You must meet our minimum subject and scholarship requirements to be eligible for UC admission. Depending on your intended major, you may need to fulfill additional major-specific requirements as well. If you’re not a California resident, you must meet additional non-resident minimum eligibility requirements. Remember, these standards determine whether or not you are eligible for admission. Fulfilling them is not a guarantee that you will be admitted to UC Davis or other selective campuses.

Selective Majors

You must complete specific preparatory coursework with a specific GPA to be eligible for admission to certain majors. These include all majors in the College of Engineering and the College of Biological Sciences, as well as some majors in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and College of Letters and Science.

Selection Process

Students will be selected primarily on the basis of academic performance and preparation, as assessed by review of the following: GPA in academic coursework, completion of breadth or general education requirements and strength of preparation for their intended major.

Highest priority for admission is given to junior-level California community college transfer applicants with 60 semester (90 quarter) units. Priority is next given to junior-level transfer students from other UC campuses and other four-year institutions in and out of California. Finally, if space is available, lower division transfers with superior grades are admitted, but only into the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
