Scholarships

Approximately 2,400 scholarships are awarded on the UC Davis campus each year. During 2008-09, UC Davis undergraduates were awarded more than $6 million in scholarships. Scholarships are funded by individuals, corporations, professional associations, alumni and directly by the university.

How to Apply for Scholarships

  1. Complete the online UC undergraduate application for admission and scholarships to automatically apply for most scholarships offered through UC Davis. The application provides detailed information regarding the scholarship process and the required documentation deadlines.
  2. Be aware that some scholarships have special requirements and may require additional materials for consideration. Transfer applicants are encouraged to submit one letter of recommendation directly to the UC Davis Undergraduate Scholarship Office for scholarship review. Refer to the scholarship section of the application instructions for further guidance.
  3. You must submit your UC application between November 1 and November 30 to be considered for scholarships.
  4. Most students are notified of scholarship awards beginning in early May through the end of July.

Regents Scholarships

Regents Scholarships, the university's most prestigious, are granted only to students with exceptional academic records. Awards may be either honorary or need-based. Four-year awards for 2008-09 ranged from $7,500 annually to stipends covering all financial need for students who qualify for financial aid, up to the cost of attendance for a California resident.

To qualify, transfer applicants need a GPA of 3.80 or above and must submit an online letter of recommendation to the Undergraduate Scholarship Office by January 2010; freshmen must meet the scholarship index. Regents Scholars are notified of their awards by April. For more information, visit financialaid.ucdavis.edu/scholarships/apply.html.

Alumni Scholarships

The Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA) awards alumni scholarships to outstanding students entering the fall term from California, Oregon and Washington. Students do not need to have an affiliation with CAAA or a relative who attended UC Davis. The minimum GPA requirement is 3.50 for freshman applicants and 3.25 for transfer applicants from community colleges. An online essay must be submitted as part of the application by February 2010. CAAA scholars are notified of their awards by April. Visit alumni.ucdavis.edu/scholarships for the online application.

Restricted Scholarships

UC Davis also offers several restricted scholarships listed in the UC undergraduate application for admission and scholarships. Be sure to review these listings as you complete the application, and select all that you may be eligible to receive.
