- ABOUT US
How can governments and private agencies foster a healthy balance between economic and community development and environmental preservation and restoration? Crafting thoughtful policies to meet these seemingly conflicting goals is the focus of the major in environmental policy analysis and planning. Students in this major receive substantial training in areas of environmental law and community planning. Issues of resource quality, pollution, energy use and recreational policy are all addressed by EPAP majors.
UC Davis environmental policy analysis and planning graduates are currently working in all levels of government and public agencies concerned with air and water quality management, environmental planning and consulting firms. This is also an excellent major for students planning to enter law school.
The courses in this major focus on the relationship between humans and the environment. Interdisciplinary coursework includes economics, agricultural economics, political science and sociology. Internships are highly encouraged in this major, as real-world research work is a focus of the program. Students have the option of taking one of six specializations including advanced policy analysis, city and regional planning, energy policy, environmental science, transportation planning, and water quality.
