Activities and Recreation Center (ARC)The ARC is our central location for every kind of indoor athletic activity. Enjoy strength training, high-energy aerobics, cardio workouts and more. Grab your crampons and stop by our indoor climbing wall. (Don’t have crampons? No problem. You can rent them, and any other type of athletic gear, in the Equipment Store.) Or join the Aggie Pack on the main floor of the ARC Pavilion to cheer on our Division I intercollegiate teams! Craft CenterLearn new skills and perfect old ones at the Craft Center. The beauty of craftsmanship is celebrated here in a wide range of well-equipped laboratories and workshops. Choose from over 80 subjects taught by student and community member instructors; from bookbinding to welding, there’s hardly any handcraft you can’t explore here. Equestrian CenterSaddle up! The Equestrian Center operates an extensive year-round English and Western riding program. Whether you’re brand-new to the sport or an experienced rider, you’ll gain skills and confidence under the direction of our professionally trained staff. Our equestrian team offers you the chance to ride, jump and show competitively; and our boarding program means you may even be able to bring your own horse to campus. Experimental CollegeReady for something a little out of the ordinary? The Experimental College, a UC Davis tradition for over 20 years, offers student-led classes in everything from yoga to firewalking, martial arts to music. Besides learning unusual new skills, you can also get involved in environmentalist actions at the Student Environmental Resource Center or plant a garden in one of the EC’s organic gardening plots. Look for the EC’s schedule of classes at the beginning of each quarter! Outdoor AdventuresIt’s a big world out there. With Outdoor Adventures, you can explore every part of it! Kayak through Baja California’s sunlit waters. Scale steep rock cliffs in the Sierra Nevada. Learn survival skills like orienteering or CPR… or train for your EMT certification. And if you’re in the mood for solo adventure, you can even rent equipment from OA’s Outdoor Store. Recreation PoolDive right in and enjoy a swim in the largest free-form pool west of the Mississippi. The Rec Pool's unique configuration provides space for lap lanes, a sun-warming island, a diving area and plenty of room for just splashing around. Need to brush up on your water skills? Lessons are available for swimmers of every ability level. |
